MARKETING COORDINATOR

POSITION SUMMARY

This position, based in Ottawa, is with our National Office Public Affairs and Marketing team, supporting communications, media relations and advertising as defined in the Commissionaires national public affairs and marketing strategy. Primary activities include maintaining the advertising schedule and relationships, assisting with the development and preparation of advertising creative, supporting efforts to strengthen and protect the brand, writing, and website management.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibility #1: Advertising and creative (50%)

Help identify and target specific audiences for national and divisional ads

  • Help manage the advertising calendar
  • Help develop and manage AdWords campaigns in a structured manner
  • Help manage creative projects including delivery schedules, printing/production and budget tracking
  • Help develop creative concepts and messaging for advertising and campaigns
  • Provide input on strategic use of inclusive and exclusive keywords
  • Monitor and report on ad performance and ad budget, and adjust as necessary
  • Help develop creative concepts and messaging for advertising and campaigns
  • Help produce and refine print imagery, social media video and imagery, and collateral
  • Help design and produce documents and assets
  • Help forecast needs and plan for future requirements
  • Liaise with creative agencies, advertising platforms and publications

Responsibility #2: Brand support, communications and engagement (30%)

  • Media and social media monitoring and reporting
  • Prepare and maintain an editorial calendar
  • Monitor brand compliance
  • Write, prepare, publish and distribute communications products including case studies
  • Write, publish, promote content to and maintain the Commissionaires blog
  • Write, publish, promote content to and maintain Commissionaires social media properties
  • Translate English to French and French to English communications products as required
  • Online engagement including responses to comments/questions
  • Prepare and publish media releases and report on their performance
  • Participate in ongoing market and industry research
  • Support tradeshow, sponsorship and related media/collateral activities
  • Edit creative materials including images, advertisements, case studies and videos

Responsibility #3:  Website administration (20%)

  • Manage website including content updates and new material
  • Support divisions with updates to and maintenance of their sections on the national website
  • Help prepare documentation and deliver training to support divisions in maintaining their sections
  • Monitor and report on Google Analytics
  • Monitor website for campaign performance, referrals and trends that can inform business development, communications and content publishing (website and social media)
  • Monitor referral traffic for online ads
  • Support accessibility compliance
  • Liaise with website hosting and support vendors

EDUCATION

  • Undergraduate 3-year program or Community College 2-year program

PROFESSIONAL / TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE (MINIMUM REQUIRED)

  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience
  • Fluently bilingual (English and French)
  • Strong communications and interpersonal skills
  • Advanced ability to use Microsoft Office applications and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Advanced ability to use and analyze results in Google Analytics and Google AdWords
  • Advanced ability using Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn as communications and community-building tools
  • Advanced ability to understand online analytics and insights

SKILLS AND ABILITIES (MINIMUM REQUIRED)

  • Strong writing and organizational skills
  • Translation (English and French)
  • Ability to operate in a multitasking, sometimes stressful environment with changing and conflicting priorities
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and process oriented
