Overview
Commissionaires Manitoba is looking for versatile and highly motivated personnel to augment our team at the Canadian Museum of Human Rights in Winnipeg Manitoba.

  • Be physically and mentally capable to perform  security and emergency response duties, be  highly reliable, have excellent interpersonal and verbal communications skills, and work well under pressure
  • Possess current Criminal Record and Child Abuse Registry checks
  • Possess current Manitoba Security License, or be able to successfully complete the Manitoba Security Guard Training Program
  • Successfully complete Commissionaires Upgrade Course (CUC)
  • Possess or be able to obtain First Aid & CPR /AED qualification

Job Profiles

Under the direction of our Operational Management, you will provide security services in one or more of the following positions utilizing established post orders:

1. Security Operations Centre (SOC) Guard

  • 24/7 security operations working 12 hour rotating shifts.
  • Fluent in both official languages, English and French.
  • Obtain a PWGSC Level II Security clearance.
  • Have a minimum two years of security experience or related military, police or emergency services experience

SOC Duties

  • Monitor and respond to radio calls
  • Complete daily logs and written reports as necessary.
  • Review and file Operations Centre emails
  • Issue keys and access cards to contractors
  • Maintain key control log
  • Perform public announcements in both official languages
  • Dispatch Museum Personnel to incidents
  • Monitor CCTV and fire panel
  • Respond to emergencies (fire / duress)
  • Support emergency response as necessary
  • Conduct hourly patrols

2. Host / Patrol / Group Entrance Guard

  • Eight or 11 hour shifts (day/evening shifts).
  • Obtain a PWGSC Reliability Security clearance.
  • Fluent in both official languages, English and French, for Host Guard position

Host Duties

  • Complete daily logs and written reports as necessary.
  • Respond to emergencies (fire / duress)
  • Support emergency response as necessary
  • Conduct scheduled patrols
  • Verify visitors in possession of valid passes
  • Conduct access control to various museum areas
  • Assist museum patrons as necessary
  • Conduct operational checks of elevators
  • Provide relief to other staff 
  • Ensure and verify access log, visitor passes as per procedure
  • Log incoming and outgoing mail
  • Monitor visitors and occupants for compliance to building regulations
  • Conduct lock up procedures as per Post Orders
  • Brief museum staff as required

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Above average computer skills; CCTV and security software experience and asset, experience in MS Office (Word and Excel) required
  • Ability to walk large areas, climb stairs (approx. 14 flights), sit or stand for extended periods of time,
  • Perform duties outside in various weather conditions
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Able to follow direction
  • Leadership skills an asset
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
