The Role

Course Delivery

  • Commissionaires Security Officer Course (CSOC) for candidates being considered for employment with CNS
  • Commissionaires Supervisor’s Course level I & II (CSC I & II) for current supervisors and those seeking supervisory positions
  • Marine Facility Personnel with Security Responsibilities (PWSR) for Commissionaires Nova Scotia (CNS) employees & external clients
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) for Commissionaires Nova Scotia (CNS) employees & external clients
  • First Aid (Emergency & Standard) for Commissionaires Nova Scotia (CNS) employees & external clients
  • Future courses identified for business development

Course Administration

  • Registering candidates for training both online and virtually
  • Grade online assignments submitted
  • Complete student evaluations
  • Completing course evaluations
  • Compiling and acting upon course feedback
  • Maintain training aids in accordance with regulatory and partner policies

Course Development

  • Assisting with the updating of current courses and development of new course material for delivery to internal and external audiences
  • Developing recommendations for changes to the curriculum or other aspects of training


Eligibility Requirements

  • Veterans of Canadian Forces and RCMP
  • 19+ years old

Qualifications & Skills

The incumbent must possess the following qualifications, skills, and competencies:

  • A university degree combined with a Certificate in Adult Education and five years’ experience or an acceptable equivalent of education and experience
  • A valid driver’s licence is required as travel throughout the province may be a requirement of the position
  • Emergency First Aid Certified



  • Demonstrated communication and collaboration skills capable of motivating individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Superior customer service skills setting a positive example for others
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality


  • High level of proficiency with computer systems and an aptitude in software such as Microsoft 365
  • Confident in the establishment of connections between technological hardware components


  • Provide constructive feedback to candidates and their suitability for work with CNS

Trouble Shooting/Problem Solving

  • Demonstrated professionalism and sound judgment
  • Excellent problem solving and interpersonal skills

Instructional design skills

  • Strong organizational skills and a proven track record in establishing priorities and meeting deadlines
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Tailor course design to client/customer requirements


  • Physically capable of lifting, carrying, instructor presentation and training aids to and from course delivery location
