Parking Enforcement Officer – Position Overview

About the Role:

Commissionaires South Saskatchewan is seeking dedicated individuals for Casual Parking Enforcement Officer positions with City of Regina Parking Enforcement. In this role, you will patrol designated areas and respond to parking enforcement complaints received throughout the City of Regina.

Patrol Officers are required for every shift, including after-hours enforcement and special events such as football games and street sweeping operations.

As a Patrol Officer, a working knowledge of the Traffic Bylaw and enforcement procedures is beneficial. Strong interpersonal skills are essential to effectively manage interactions with the public while ensuring compliance with bylaw regulations.

Physical Requirements:
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions during day and evening shifts.
  • Frequent use of hands to operate equipment, including computers.
  • Extended periods of standing and walking, with the ability to climb multiple flights of stairs.
  • Must be able to walk for 90% of the shift in outdoor conditions when conducting urban patrols.
  • Parking Enforcement Officer Qualifications and Requirements
Essential Skills and Abilities:
  • Proficiency in speaking, writing, and comprehending English at a moderate to high level.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with the public.
  • Professional demeanor, even-tempered, and capable of diffusing tense situations.
  • Thorough understanding and intent of Traffic Bylaws.
  • Knowledge of enforcement procedures and regulations.
  • Familiarity with protocols established by the Corps of Commissionaires.
  • Competence in completing required documentation for both Parking Services and the Corps.
Job Requirements:
  • Availability to work days, evenings, weekdays, weekends, and statutory holidays, including special events as needed.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check and reference background verification.
  • Ability to work 20-40 hours per week in Saskatchewan, with potential overtime as determined by the supervisor.
  • Strong ability to handle pressure while providing exceptional customer service.
  • Prior knowledge of City of Regina bylaws is considered an asset.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience interacting with the public in a professional setting.
  • Effective English communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Attention to detail and a professional approach to work responsibilities and appearance.
  • Demonstrated reliability, dedication, and flexibility to accommodate extra shifts when necessary.
  • Strong work ethic and a positive team-oriented attitude.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently while maintaining accuracy.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Traffic Bylaws and enforcement procedures.
  • Proficiency in completing required paperwork for Parking Services and the Corps.
  • Reliable transportation to reach work shifts. A vehicle and appropriate communication tools will be provided during working hours.
  • Class 5 Saskatchewan Drivers License.
  • Clean drivers abstract for over 5 years.
STRONG ASSETS:
  • Experienced driver and have knowledge and be able to navigate city of Regina streets.
  • Ministry of Corrections and Policing forty (40) hour Private Investigators and Security Guard course and is seen as an asset.
