On September 19, Commissionaires Nova Scotia added a shiny silver rosette to an already very decorated commissionaire and Navy veteran, John McIntosh.
CEO Bruce Belliveau presented commissionaire McIntosh with a 22 Year Long Service award. John was joined by his wife, Margaret, daughter, Patricia (pictured below), CNS HQ staff members, and representation from Halifax Waterfront Development, and its master tenant, COVE (Centre for Ocean Ventures & Entrepreneurship) where John works.
“We are all so proud of John and his devotion to his work. He has a wonderful sense of humour and is a wealth of knowledge. It’s a pleasure to be greeted at the front gates of COVE by John, and I look forward to our chats every time I go. I can honestly say the sentiment goes for all of us at COVE.

Long and storied does not begin to describe the career of a gentleman who has twice met the Queen, 50 years apart! He jokingly commented, “I couldn’t believe she didn’t remember me!”
During his time in the Navy, John received many honours including a Special Service Medal, an Order of Military Merit, and a Star of Courage. During his tenure at CNS, John has received a Commissionaires Distinguished Service Medal (2007) and a CEO’s Commendation (2012). His outstanding character and service has not gone unnoticed.
Commissionaire McIntosh will celebrate 60 years in a uniform this winter. Thank you, John, for your dedication in continuing to protect Canadians no matter the cut of your kit.
