CGL Ceremonial Unit wins The Canon Scott Trophy

On October 14th, the Commissionaires Great Lakes Ceremonial Unit was awarded The Canon Scott Trophy for their performance at the 2017 CNE Warriors’ Day Parade.

Marching units that parade at the Toronto Warriors’ Day Parade compete in various categories for trophies and plaques. The Canon Scott Trophy is awarded to the top Veteran Marching Unit of 15 or less on parade. The Ceremonial Unit was presented with a First Place Plaque on behalf of the Warriors’ Day Parade Council at their Annual Awards Banquet.

The Canon Scott Trophy was donated to The Warriors’ Day Parade in 1937 by the Originals Club of Toronto. The trophy was established in the name of Canada’s beloved First World War padre, Canon Frederick George Scott CMG, DSO, Senior Chaplain, First Canadian Division, Canadian Expeditionary Force. Canon Scott was with Canada’s troops continuously in Europe from 1914 at the age of 54 through to 1918. He touched many lives, and was the most decorated of Canada’s WWI padres. For many years Canon Scott attended the Warriors’ Day Parade and presented this trophy to the winning unit.
