Shearwater Aviation Museum improves accessibility thanks to CNS Donation

The Shearwater Aviation Museum is about to become more accessible thanks to a $1000 donation from Commissionaires Nova Scotia (CNS)’s Veterans’ Support Committee. The funding will support the addition of physical mobility aids such as walkers, canes and wheelchairs along with accessibility aids like braille.

As part of our mandate to support veterans, CNS regularly donates to military organizations like the Shearwater Aviation Museum. Last year, the museum used our funding to build a hand-on aviation exhibit for children.

The Shearwater Aviation Museum, led by Christine Hines, is home to tens of thousands of aviation artifacts. This collection includes uniforms, insignia, ceremonial items, tools and equipment, photographs, documents, and an extensive art gallery.

Each year, the CNS Veterans Support Committee provides funds to veteran organizations based out of Nova Scotia. Steve Graham, the committee’s chair, presented the funds to Shearwater Aviation Museum. This support follows a donation earlier this year to the Veteran Farm Project Society, learn more here.
