Each year, the Commissionaires Nova Scotia (CNS) Veterans’ Support Committee recognizes organizations that make a meaningful difference in the lives of veterans and their families. These annual contributions reflect CNS’s ongoing commitment to its social mandate of supporting veterans of the Canadian Armed Forces and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
The 2026–2027 Veteran Support Awards were presented by Steve Graham, Chair of the Veterans’ Support Committee, and Rebecca Landry, CNS Chief Operating Officer, to four organizations whose work continues to strengthen the veteran community

Royal Canadian Legion – Nova Scotia/Nunavut Division supports veterans, serving members of the Canadian Armed Forces and RCMP, and their families through advocacy, remembrance initiatives, and community programs. As the Royal Canadian Legion celebrates its 100th anniversary, Commissionaires Nova Scotia is honoured to support our shared commitment to veterans and communities we serve. District Commander Tom McCormack accepted the award.

Veterans Farm Project in Windsor, Nova Scotia, supports serving and veteran women through sustainable agriculture, wellness initiatives, workshops, and food security programs for veterans in need. Steve Miller accepted the award.

RCMP Veterans Association – Nova Scotia Division provides advocacy, resources, and support to former RCMP employees and their families. Dan McNaughton accepted the award on behalf of the Association.

Paws Fur Thought pairs Military and RCMP veterans and serving members living with Operational Stress Injuries (OSI) or Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) with certified service dogs. Since 2013, the program has matched more than 100 service dogs with Atlantic Canadian veterans. Mike Gingell, accompanied by service dog handler Sean Webb and service dog Finnick, accepted the award.
Commissionaires Nova Scotia is proud to support these organizations and the essential work they do to improve the lives of Canada’s veterans. Together, they continue to strengthen the communities they serve while ensuring veterans receive the care, resources, and support they deserve.
