Cowichan’s signature security firm has been bought by a non-profit company dedicated to helping veterans.
The Canadian Corps of Commissionaires has bought Duncan-based CoVal Security, in addition to Victoria’s Royal Victoria Security.
The Commissionaires is a private, not-for-profit company registered under the B.C. Societies Act, with a mandate to create employment for veterans of the Canadian Armed Forces, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and other public safety organizations.
Commissionaires have served Victoria and Vancouver Island since 1937, and have about 1,000 employees serving communities from Victoria to Whitehorse.
“Our business decisions are guided by our commitment to our customers and to veterans, said John Dewar, CEO of Commissionaires Victoria.
“ We strive to provide our customers with the best security services, and we are dedicated to providing our employees with meaningful opportunities for continued service to their communities. With these acquisitions, we are enhancing our ability to deliver on both obligations.”
Royal Victoria Security and CoVal Security customers will continued to be served by the The Canadian Corps of Commissionaires.
