Nova Scotia’s largest security services company, Commissionaires Nova Scotia (CNS), is relocating in early-fall 2017 to a new, state-of-the-art headquarters being built in Bedford Common.
“This is a tremendous step forward for Commissionaires Nova Scotia,” says CEO Bruce Belliveau, “And one that will generate significant efficiencies over our existing day-to-day operations between Halifax and Burnside.”
CNS has been located at a beautiful downtown historic building on 1472 Hollis Street since 1967, when Colonel S.C. Oland, then Chairman of the Board of Commissionaires, purchased and renovated Black-Binney House as the new headquarters for CNS. Fifty years later, his grandson, Commander (Ret’d) Richard Oland, is Chair of the CNS Board of Governors. “We are very excited about the prospect of moving into this new building,” says Commander Oland, “It’s the culmination of several years of analyzing many different options, and we’re confident we’re building the foundation for another 50 successful years for CNS.” Black-Binney House has been sold to Louis Reznick, who is thrilled to acquire another significant historic property in a premier downtown location. “It’s a beautiful property in a wonderful neighbourhood," says Mr. Reznick.
B.D. Stevens was selected as the builder of the new headquarters, and construction has commenced at the Bedford Common location. “We are privileged to be working with another great Nova Scotian company as we help them build their future”, says Luke Eliot, General Manager of B.D. Stevens. The 20,000 sq. ft. building will house a training centre with three classrooms, an operations centre, and office space to consolidate all operations, human resources, finance, and business personnel in a single location.
