Commissionaires Ottawa expands Headquarters

Continued growth expected to lead to more jobs and more services

Prompted by continued business growth and demand for its services, Commissionaires Ottawa completed a large-scale renovation and expansion project at its Headquarters and hosted an Official Opening to mark the occasion. In addition to an 8,000 sq. ft. addition, the building located at 24 Colonnade Road in Ottawa now includes a new reception area, a state-of-the-art training facility, as well as numerous modernized boardroom, office and multi-purpose spaces.

About 80 guests were in attendance, including Veterans Ombudsman Guy Parent, Chief Superintendent Sharon Woodburn (RCMP), numerous high-ranking veterans, director-level security clients, and long-time supporters of Commissionaires Ottawa’s veteran-focused social mandate. In addition to a Wine & Cheese reception, there was a live demonstration of digital fingerprinting technology, experts on hand to exhibit the company’s wide range of services, and personal tours offered.

CEO Paul A. Guindon said, “This event is a celebration of our growth and a thank you to those who continue to support us. Our customer base is growing because we listened to our clients and expanded our business lines. We are proud to contribute to the local economy by creating thousands of jobs for veterans and other security-focused citizens who share a passion to protect people, property and information.”

Now approaching 4,000 employees, Commissionaires Ottawa has also doubled the size of its Gatineau office (2010) and opened three new offices in Sudbury (2009), Petawawa (2010) and downtown Ottawa (2011).

Following the welcome remarks, the CEO presented Diane Blenkiron of the Military Family Resource Centre-National Capital Region with a $6,250.00 donation and Kim Hetherington, Executive Director of the Petawawa Military Family Resource Centre with an $18,750.00 donation.

The CEO, also a 33-year veteran of the Canadian Forces, said, “Commissionaires Ottawa is very pleased to present the Military Family Resource Centres in Petawawa and the NCR with donations today. We want you to know that the services that your charitable organizations provide to our military families is much appreciated and many of us, as veterans, have benefited from your support in earlier years.”

Since 2008, Commissionaires Ottawa has raised $195,000.00 for military families, the vast majority of which has been channelled into child care programs managed by local military family resource centres.
