Commissionaires Ottawa wins Consumer Choice Award

Commissionaires Ottawa has been named the 2013 Consumer Choice Award winner for business excellence in the category of Security Guard Services. Through an independent market research survey conducted by Léger Marketing—the largest, independent, Canadian-owned research company—350 business owners and top-ranking managers cast their votes and Commissionaires Ottawa emerged as the top-ranked organization in that category.

Paul Guindon, CEO of Commissionaires Ottawa, says, “What is most interesting about our win is that 100% of those surveyed were from the business community. For the past several years, we have gone to great lengths to expand our services beyond government contracts and grow our presence in the private sector. This win is great feedback that we have not only established a foothold in the private sector, but have also earned our way to becoming the top-ranked choice as a service provider.”

The Consumer Choice Award is considered the most distinguished award for business excellence in Canada and is recognized by the Prime Minister, provincial premiers and mayors. According to Consumer Choice Award, over 72% of consumers recognize the Consumer Choice Award seal of excellence and more than 7 out of 10 consumers prefer to do business with a Consumer Choice Award recipient.

The CEO adds, “Having a reputable third party endorse us as a top-ranked service provider has many benefits and we are excited to have reached this level of recognition in the private sector. We could not have won this award without our commissionaires who represent who we are and what we do at hundreds of sites in the communities we serve. Their dedication, loyalty and service-driven talents have won over the trust of consumers and these qualities, in turn, will continue to strengthen our reputation for business excellence.”

Among the largest private employers in Ottawa with nearly 4,000 employees, Commissionaires Ottawa offers comprehensive security solutions: on-site or mobile security, digital fingerprinting, criminal background checks, a pardon application service, by-law enforcement, non-core police services, security and security-related training, threat risk assessments, pre-employment screening, and investigations, to name a few. It is contracted at over 500 private and public sector client sites in the National Capital Region, the Ottawa Valley, throughout Northern Ontario, and also in parts of Northwestern Quebec and Southwestern Ontario. As part of its social mandate, Commissionaires Ottawa has been focused on hiring former and serving military personnel for nearly 75 years. It also hires RCMP veterans and other security-focused citizens of all ages who share a passion to safeguard their fellow Canadians.
