The South Saskatchewan Division of Commissionaires is the title sponsor for the Armistice Century Ball, taking place Friday, November 9th, 2018 at the Queensbury Convention Centre Ballroom, Regina, Saskatchewan.
“This sponsorship is at the very heart of why Commissionaires exists,” said Colin King, CEO of Commissionaires South Saskatchewan. “We were formed following the First World War specifically to provide meaningful employment for veterans. That foundational purpose continues to be our social mandate, today.”
The idea of forming a Canadian version of the British Corps of Commissionaires was first proposed by the Governor General of Canada, H.R.H. the Duke of Connaught, in 1915. The Canadian Corps of Commissionaires was eventually formed in 1925, specifically to employ Canadian veterans of the First World War.
The Commissionaires Armistice Century Ball, co-organized by the The Royal United Services Institute and the Province of Saskatchewan, will commemorate 100th Anniversary of the end of the First World War on Friday, November 9th, 2018. Tickets are available online.
