Commissionaires to provide security at Invictus Games Toronto 2017

Ottawa, ON (June 7, 2017) – Commissionaires, Canada’s largest private sector employer of veterans, will be providing security for Invictus Games Toronto 2017 presented by Jaguar Land Rover taking place in Toronto from September 23 to 30, 2017.

“The Invictus Games present a phenomenal opportunity to celebrate those who have served their countries and the families that support them,” said Vice-Admiral (Ret’d) Dusty Miller, Chair of the Commissionaires’ National Board of Directors. “The world will get to see veterans demonstrate their strength and spirit which is the hallmark of their personal journeys to recovery. It is truly an honour to be associated with such an important event.”

Over 120 fully licensed and trained uniformed staff and supervisors will be deployed at nine major venues across the GTA including Nathan Phillips Square, Toronto Island Park and the Pan Am Sports Centre. Commissionaires will provide 24-hour comprehensive security coverage including customer service, access control, asset protection and mobile support.

“The veterans and families who will be competing at the Games deserve the same impeccable level of security that they have given their own countries,” said Michael Burns, CEO of Invictus Games Toronto 2017. “We can think of no more qualified organization than Commissionaires for this extremely important task. We have complete confidence that Commissionaires’—many of whom are veterans themselves—will ensure that our personnel, competitors and international guests are safe and secure. The organization also serves as an example of how valuable the contribution of our veteran servicemen and women is in the workplace.”

In addition to providing security services, Commissionaires is a Proud Sponsor of this year’s games, joining many other great Canadian and international companies that are helping to deliver eight days of inspiring competition featuring 550 competitors from 17 nations.
