Today, the Honourable Lisa Raitt, Canada's Labour Minister, congratulated the Nova Scotia division of Commissionaires and the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) for ratifying a new collective agreement.
"I am very pleased that the Commissionaires Nova Scotia and PSAC have successfully reached a negotiated agreement without interruption to services," said Minister Raitt. "Strong labour-management relations benefit our country's economic prosperity and the economic security of Canadians."
The previous collective agreement covering a unit of approximately 160 employees working at the Halifax Stanfield International Airport in Enfield, Nova Scotia, expired on December 31, 2010. The parties reached their new agreement with the assistance of a mediator from the Labour Program's Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service.
The Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service was established to provide dispute resolution and prevention assistance to trade unions and employers under the jurisdiction of the Canada Labour Code.
