North Saskatchewan Governor is presented with the Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers

Governor General Julie Payette presented North Saskatchewan Division Governor Joan Steckman with the Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers, this morning.

For the past 30 years, Joan has made significant contributions to improve the lives of her fellow Canadians. She has spent many years working with the Girl Guides of Canada, and the Riverside Kiwanis Club. In addition to those organizations, Joan makes a point to consistently support youth, veterans, and organizations that encourage community engagement.

Joan joined the Board of our North Saskatchewan Division in 2013, and served as the Chair of the Division’s Audit committee from 2014 through 2017.

When she’s not volunteering or participating in activities to support members of her community, Joan oversees operations of the “Prairie Lily” riverboat, of which she is co-owner and Vice President.

Thank you, Joan, and congratulations on your well-deserved recognition.
