Ottawa security company partners with telecom company to expand service offerings and create more jobs for veterans

OTTAWA—August 23, 2018.  Commissionaires Ottawa, a private, not-for-profit security company whose social mandate includes a primary focus on hiring military and RCMP veterans, announced today it is partnering with ComNet to expand its security solutions to include security systems, communication cabling and network solutions.

ComNet, with offices in Ottawa, Kingston and Montreal, will retain its name, brand and current employees but will operate as a subsidiary of Commissionaires Ottawa.

Paul Guindon, CEO, Commissionaires Ottawa, says, “To meet demand, our services have expanded tenfold over the past 10-15 years. We’ve gone from traditional security solutions to integrated offerings like digital fingerprinting, criminal record checks, threat risk assessments, workplace investigations, and more. Venturing into security systems, communication cabling and network solutions is the next best way to provide all-in-one convenience to our clients.”

Guindon adds, “At the heart of every business decision is our commitment to creating meaningful employment opportunities for Canadian Armed Forces and RCMP veterans. We know that modern-day veterans can be any age when they leave the military, as early as their 20s and 30s. As more and more Gen X and millennials join our ranks with strong technical skills and training, we can now offer them—and offer all our commissionaires—more jobs and different kinds of jobs than ever before.” Guindon adds.

Commissionaires Ottawa is a private, not-for-profit security company—a leading employer of veterans since 1939 with a proud history of raising awareness and funds for military families.

Today, Commissionaires Ottawa employs about 4,000 security professionals who provide services at hundreds of locations in the National Capital Region, the Ottawa Valley, throughout Northern Ontario and also in parts of Southwestern Ontario. Accredited by the RCMP to offer digital fingerprinting services since 2006, Commissionaires Ottawa manages what has become the largest digital fingerprinting infrastructure in Canada. It is also one of Ottawa’s largest private sector employers and a 6-year Consumer Choice Award winner for business excellence.

ComNet’s services include network solutions and installation, voice and data cabling, phone systems and IP solutions, security systems, fiber optic solutions, network hardware, design and engineering, and infrastructure management.
