Landry becomes the first woman to lead the organization in its 88-year history following a planned leadership transition
Commissionaires Nova Scotia (Commissionaires) is pleased to announce the appointment of Rebecca Landry as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) effective October 9, 2026.
Following a tenure in leadership roles at Saab Canada, Rebecca joined Commissionaires in September 2024 as Chief Operating Officer where she has played a pivotal role in advancing the organization’s strategic growth, operational excellence, and workforce development. Her ability to build trusted relationships, identify strategic opportunities, and effectively navigate the complexities of the defence and security sector enabled the organization to secure its largest contract in over a decade.
“Having successfully led the diversification of our client portfolio as Chief Operating Officer, Rebecca has helped position Commissionaires Nova Scotia for long-term success in an evolving security environment,” stated Bryn Weadon, chair of the Board of Governors. “Her appointment reflects the vision, dedication, and results she has consistently delivered.
Originally from Sweden, Landry relocated to Canada in 2016 and quickly established herself as a respected leader in the defence and security sector. In 2021, she was recognized by Women in Defence and Security with their Emerging Leader award for her contributions to the industry and commitment to advancing opportunities for women in technical and leadership roles. In 2026, she was named one of Atlantic Business Magazine‘s 25 Most Powerful Women in Business in Atlantic Canada, recognizing her influence as a business leader and champion for others. She currently serves as a board member for Alice House, mentors emerging leaders through the Women in Leadership Foundation, and leads Lean In Atlantic Canada, helping to foster mentorship and opportunities for women across the region.

The Board of Governors also thanked outgoing CEO, Barry Pitcher, who recently assumed command of Canadian Armed Forces 36 Canadian Brigade Group. Over the past four years, Pitcher led Commissionaires through a period of significant growth and transformation, advancing modernization, championing a people-first culture, and strengthening the organization’s relationships with communities across the province.
“It has been an extraordinary privilege to lead the Commissionaires Nova Scotia team,” said Pitcher. “I am deeply grateful to our Board of Governors for their trust and unwavering support, and to our employees across the province who bring our mission to life every day. I leave with tremendous gratitude for the opportunity to have contributed to our proud legacy of supporting veteran employment, and with complete confidence in Rebecca’s ability to lead the organization into its next chapter.”
During Pitcher’s tenure, Commissionaires was named the Halifax Chamber of Commerce’s 2024 Not-For-Profit of the Year, and Pitcher was recognized by Canadian Security magazine as its 2025 Security Director of the Year. His continued service within Canada’s defence and security community will maintain a strong connection with a sector Commissionaires has proudly served for generations.
