Veterans’ Week Spotlight – Alexander Chisholm

2024 Supervisor of the Year
Alexander Chisholm

This Veterans’ Week, we’re recognizing former Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) reservist and current commissionaire, Alexander Chisholm. This summer Alex was named Commissionaires’ Supervisor of the Year for 2024.

Alex is a longstanding and dedicated member of Commissionaires Southern Alberta Division. His decade of service to the Corps has allowed him to build a reputation as a distinguished security professional. Before his employment with the Corps, he served in the CAF Primary Reserve and was a passionate member of the cadets organization during his youth. During his time as a cadet and in the CAF, his encounters with commissionaires left him with a positive impression, inspiring him to turn to Commissionaires as his career transitioned.

Alex’s current role with Commissionaires is as a security trainer at Calgary International Airport, where he first started with the company a decade ago. His 2024 Supervisor of the Year nomination came from his time and efforts as site supervisor at ENMAX Place. While at ENMAX, Alex developed innovative and technologically conscious approaches to security management. From recreating mobile patrol schedules to implementing a smartphone application used for vehicle inspections, Alex’s efforts have enhanced the efficiency and effectiveness of security operations at ENMAX, part of Calgary’s critical infrastructure.

Alex and his family are no strangers to service. In fact, Alex’s son Cole had worked for Commissionaires while simultaneously serving in the Canadian Army’s Primary Reserve for several years. Cole, currently a Master Corporal, most recently transitioned into a Regular Force career in the Royal Canadian Air Force and is based out of CFB Shearwater, NS. Alex’s wife, Patti, has worked with Canadian Blood Services for over 30 years and is currently a Lab Supervisor at Rocky View General Hospital in Calgary. Patti’s father served in the RCMP’s K Division, AB, retiring after 30 years as a Staff Sergeant. When the Chisholms are not serving their country or community, they are active musicians, performing in local pipe and drum bands around the Calgary area.

Alex’s character and contributions reflect the high-quality service one could expect from Commissionaires. Most importantly, his record of accomplishment shows how valuable the experiences of those who served in the CAF are to organizations that hire former military personnel.

This Veterans’ Week, Commissionaires spotlights its support for veterans like Alex, who have served with dignity, and those who continue to serve, like Cole. We recognize their courage, dedication, and sacrifice, which make Canada a better place to live.
