THE ROLE

We have an exciting opportunity at Commissionaires Newfoundland and Labrador (CNL) for a Business and Development Officer. In this role, you’ll report directly to the COO and focus on developing new business/clients, increasing revenue streams, and promoting CNL, our people, services, mission and social mandate. Additionally, you will be expected to understand the competitive landscape, market trends, newer technology, and implement change to ensure customers continue to see us as an industry leader.

Working to build upon a growing number of business opportunities across Newfoundland and Labrador. This will include working closely with various internal CNL stakeholders on cross-district opportunities, marketing campaigns, environmental scans, Contract development, and case studies to ensure CNL’s continued success.  Some key metrics for success in this role will be cultivating a very proactive business development culture across all of CNL, as well as the research/implementation of newer technologies to keep propelling the company forward.

As a key member of our operational team, the Business Development Officer role will be excitingly fast paced and ultimately supports the strategic growth of CNL.  The ideal candidate will be motivated to succeed, engaging, collaborative, professional, highly adaptable, and be able to work independently with a high level of attention to detail. This position requires an individual with proven sales and business development experience, a can-do attitude and someone who has a strong understanding of strategic growth objectives.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Marketing

  • Provide strategic and operational support to marketing and communication initiatives, including recruitment and security services promotion.
  • Plan, develop, and execute promotional campaigns, including online advertising and social media accounts.
  • Assist in designing of creative materials such as presentations, reports, articles, advertisements, event support materials, fact sheets, and brochures.
  • Write, publish, promote content to maintain company social media profiles
  • Oversee online engagement including responses to comments/questions/inquiries
  • Explore all relevant and cost-effective marketing options to promote CNL.
  • Manage website including content updates and preparing/refreshing material.
  • Create partnerships with different organizations and community groups.

Sales/Business Development

  • Establish sales objectives by forecasting and developing annual sales quotas for CNL and projecting expected sales volume and profit for existing and new clients.
  • Reporting and analytics, validate the quality of our service delivery, trends, target accounts, market segmentation, win/loss, etc.
  • Work directly with the COO to create and manage a targeted list of new clients.
  • Implement daily and weekly outreach activities, including cold calling and email campaigns.
  • Perform research and identify new potential customers and new market opportunities.
  • Review online sites for contract opportunities.
  • Become a subject matter expert on our business products, processes, technology, operations, and remain up to date on industry news.
  • Conduct competitor and market analysis.
  • Understand and effectively communicate the company’s value proposition.
  • Assist with the preparation of bids on security services tenders and RFPs.
  • Create/cultivate strong relationships with client stakeholders  at all levels.
  • Maintain sales activities, client-sector mixes, and highly competitive pricing by keeping current with competitor activity, emerging technologies, and economic indicators.
  • Have a desire to own projects and exceed expectations, with the ability to find solutions and deliver results within a rapidly changing, technology-driven culture.
  • Through reporting and analytics, validate the quality of our service delivery, trends, Target Accounts, Market Segmentation, Win/Loss, etc.
  • Participate collaboratively with our RFP, RFQ and other surrounding process(s).

WHO WE’RE SEEKING

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Diploma or Degree in Business or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • 2- 5 years of experience within a similar role.
  • Be professional, reliable and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Be able to obtain a clear police conduct and Government of Canada security clearance.
  • Industry knowledge would be an asset.
  • Driver’s license
