About the Current Position:

Commissionaires South Saskatchewan is looking for a dedicated individual to work as a Detention Guard out of File Hills First Nations Police Service Detention Cells. You are on-call and would start working/being paid when a call was accepted, and you began travelling to the site. To be successful in this role, you would have a valid driver’s license and the ability to provide foot patrol as well as mobile patrols. Duties will include maintaining inmate and visitor logs, managing cell block access, monitoring for fire safety and co-ordinating with law enforcement officers.

Requirements:

  • MUST be willing to work all hours.
  • Must have valid Saskatchewan Drivers License.
  • Must successfully complete a Criminal Record Check and reference background check. Additional clearance will be required to work in more secure buildings.
  • Must be able to work in Saskatchewan.
  • Attention to detail and professional approach in all areas of work and appearance.
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing in English.
  • Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
  • Able to provide excellent customer service.
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
  • Computer experience, including effective working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and e-mail.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently with accuracy.
  • Dependant on position, may require a valid Saskatchewan Drivers License and clean drivers abstract.
  • **Emergency First Aid/CPR.
  • WHIMS certification is required.
  • **Must have successfully completed the Ministry of Corrections and Policing forty (40) hour Private Investigators and Security Guard course and are licensable in the Province of Saskatchewan as a Security Guard.
  • Experience in the security industry seen as an asset.
  • Multiple language profiles seen as an asset.

Physical Demands:

  • The employee may frequently be required to sit and use hands to manipulate office equipment including a computer keyboard and mouse.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand for long periods of time.
  • The employee must be able to operate a motor vehicle for long periods of time.

** Successful interviewees that do not yet have this training and are considered for employment will be offered the opportunity to complete this training through the Commissionaires before they are assigned to a position.
