THE ROLE

We have an exciting opportunity at Commissionaires Newfoundland and Labrador (CNL) for a Health Safety & Environment/ISO Coordinator. As the Health Safety & Environment/ISO Coordinator you will be responsible for ensuring CNL’s health safety & environment polices are in compliance with legislation and follow best practices. This position will also be responsible for overseeing ISO 9001 & 14001 requirements for CNL.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

OH&S
• Work safely and enforce workplace safety practices.
• Discuss safety improvements to be implemented at HQ.
• Manage all OH&S meetings and documentation from HQ, CLRC and required
sites.
• Review and update fire drill presentation and hold tabletop fire drill.
• Review and update emergency plans and procedures.
• Create and distribute monthly incident summary/green tips to all site managers,
HQ staff and CLRC members.
• Act as the contact for site managers to discuss safety hazards, incidents,
inspection failures, workers compensation claims.
• Submit injury reports and OHS minutes to Workplace NL.
• Review all incidents, hazards and concerns with HR and resolve.

ISO
• Data entry of training records, contracts, Post Orders, and other pertinent
information into various systems.
• Review and revise current work instructions.
• Assure compliance with 9001:2015 and 14001:2015 ISO standards, regulatory,
and safety requirements.
• Review bylaws and regulations and update on national SharePoint site.
• Monitor, support, and continually improve the quality procedures and
documentation.
• Manage and conduct internal ISO audits.
• Coordinate corrective actions in response to internal and registrar non-conformances, customer issues, and system weaknesses.
• Conduct annual site inspections using Security Protocols Checklist.
• Conduct monthly audit to ensure client contact notes are uploaded to database.
• Upload site inspections onto database.
• Upload and closeout NCRs, OFIs, on database.
• Work directly with site managers on ISO and safety issues.
• Analyze customer complaints, internal non-conforming product data and
production data and make recommendations for improvements.
• Upload client surveys onto SharePoint and vendor surveys to shared drive.
• Collect performance data and record and report all resources used into
SharePoint: ISO 14001 resources.
• Participate in recycling of products and all environmental protocols and initiatives
implemented at HQ.
• Responsible for managing the QMS/EMS.
• Editing and distribution of quarterly newsletter.
• Record director’s meeting minutes, staff meeting minutes and MRC minutes and
upload to shared drive.


WHO WE’RE SEEKING

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Post-secondary education in Health & Safety or equivalent experience may be considered.
  • 2- 5 years of experience within a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of OHS legislation, regulations, and best practices.
  • Be professional, reliable and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Be able to obtain a clear police conduct and Government of Canada security clearance.
  • Industry knowledge would be an asset.
  • Driver’s license
