Commissionaires are the largest not for profit security company in Canada, with the social mandate of the re-employment of Veterans and those interested in serving their communities. Security is an integral part of everyone’s safety in the community, and we are looking for likeminded individuals to help us in our mission. The Supervisor role will be responsible for the scheduling and training of the onsite staff complement of 14 individuals. Must have previous supervisory experience.

This position plays an integral role in providing security and safety to all individuals accessing the hospital (staff, patients, clients and visitors). As a multicultural facility, the Security Guards must exhibit cultural sensitivity while ensuring that the safety of all individuals is maintained. This is a hands-on position requiring people to be able to: handcuff, restrain combative patients, and defuse violent or aggressive situations when they arise.

Duties include but not limited to:

  • Provide general security to the entire facility, including locking and unlocking doors, patrolling the facility and grounds, monitoring security cameras, enforcing parking regulations, issuing parking passes, tickets, lockers and keys, and processing payments/counting cash. Providing daily and pre-landing inspections of the heliport.
  • Restraining combative patients, perform individual patient watches, assist in locating missing or wandering patients, calling codes during emergencies, and admits/discharges bodies from the morgue.
  • Monitors suspicious activities, apprehending and detaining suspects, removing and cataloguing dangerous weapons, and escorting individuals from the property.
  • Extensive and comprehensive report writing using a specific application on a cell phone.

Candidates must be willing and able to work a 12-hour shift rotation.

Due to the hands-on nature of the role, extensive training will be provided to successful candidates which includes handcuff training and defensive tactics training. Successful candidates will be required to pass a basic physical test.

Indigenous candidates and those possessing a Saskatchewan Security Guard training certificate will be given preference. Candidates without the certificate will be considered. Must be 18 years of age or older
