JOB SUMMARY:
The Unit Security Supervisor (USS) serves as the primary local resource for security guidance and support to the Commanding Officer (CO), supervisors, and managers. The USS is responsible for ensuring that baseline security measures are properly implemented and maintained at the local level in accordance with established Security Orders and Directives. This role supports the consistent application of security protocols and provides timely advice to leadership on security-related matters.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
• Reliability Security screening with the ability to obtain Level II (Secret);
• must have excellent interpersonal and written communication skills,
• must be able to communicate in a calm and confident manner regardless of circumstances,
• must be able to interact with people in a concise and professional manner,
• must be able to maintain Commissionaires and client confidentiality,
• must be able to work independently or as part of a team,
• should possess excellent computer skills, including experience with specialized secure networks and all Microsoft products i.e., Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
• Must be able to pass the Unit Security Supervisor course, MITE Clerk
• Bilingual is considered an asset
REQUIRED SECURITY CLEARANCE:
Reliability Security screening with the ability to obtain Level II (Secret);
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• represent the Commissionaires and the client professionally at all times including personal conduct, dress, and appearance,
• read, remain current with, and follow all Commissionaires policies, Terms & Conditions of Employment
• read, remain current with, maintain, and follow all client & site SOPs/post instructions,
• the preparation of appropriate security standing orders for approval;
• the development of security measures plan specific to the local area of responsibility;
• ensuring that newly arrived personnel are specifically briefed on security practices and requirements;
• the conduct of frequent checks on measures taken to protect classified and other sensitive matter, both during and outside normal hours;
• ensuring that persons who require access to classified matter in the performance of their duties are security-cleared to the appropriate level;
• ensuring that persons who are not security cleared, but who require access to sensitive as opposed to classified information, have been the subject to reliability checks;
• initiating requests and verifying identification for Personnel Security Clearances of Squadron members;
• briefing or verifying that briefs have been completed for personnel at the time they are granted a new, upgraded or renewed security clearance;
• ensuring the conduct of an effective security awareness programme in keeping with the requirement of DND Security Programme;
• providing or arranging for, semi-annual security education briefings, lectures, material and reinforcing an intellectual acceptance of the need for security;
• assisting in the conduct of vulnerability/penetration tests, security checks, inspections, searches, and audits as may be directed by the appropriate authorities;
• coordinating common unit security matters with the Unit Information Systems Security Officer;
• monitor IBTS requirements of Sqn members and coordinate training with RTF;
• update Sqn member qualifications in MITE and Monitor Mass;
• act as Building Custodian, managing deficiencies as they arise and liaising with RPOps to rectify issues;
• as requested, prepare and present reports to the chain of command on the status of security, training, and building status;
• maintain a daily personal notebook,
• record, advise/report on any unusual site activity to the appropriate supervisor/client including any actions/remedies and/or official reporting undertaken, as required,
• generate appropriate security and incident reports, as required,
• maintain a dialogue with the Site/District Supervisor and the client at all times, and
• perform any other required security related duties, as detailed by the Site Supervisor/District Manager and/or as reasonably requested by the client.
CLIENT REQUIREMENTS
To be eligible for consideration for this position, you must have the following qualifications:
• Secret Clearence
• Valid Ontario Security License
• Valid Emergency CPR First Aid with AED
• Clean CPIC and Background Check
