Commissionaires Ottawa is looking for an experienced security operations leader to oversee a diverse portfolio of client contracts throughout the Gatineau region.

About the Role

As a Manager of Field Operations, you’ll be responsible for the overall performance of multiple security contracts, ensuring exceptional service delivery while leading a team of supervisors and security professionals.

You’ll work closely with clients, identify new business opportunities, support operational improvements, and ensure contracts consistently exceed expectations.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing operational leadership, client management and business development.

In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Build trusted relationships with clients by proactively identifying concerns, strengthening partnerships and enhancing service delivery.
  • Develop and mentor supervisors, creating a culture of accountability, leadership and continuous improvement.
  • Anticipate operational and staffing challenges through planning and collaboration, helping to reduce reactive decision-making.
  • Improve employee engagement and retention by fostering a positive work environment and supporting frontline leaders.
  • Partner closely with Human Resources on recruitment, workforce planning, employee relations and succession planning.
  • Support business growth by identifying opportunities to expand services, strengthen existing partnerships and contribute to new business initiatives.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

Operational Leadership

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of multiple security contracts.
  • Coach, mentor and develop a team of supervisors, building leadership capability through regular feedback, performance coaching, succession planning and professional development.
  • Ensure operational readiness across all assigned sites.
  • Resolve operational challenges quickly and effectively.
  • Monitor staffing levels and operational performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Client Relationship Management

  • Build strong, trusted relationships with clients.
  • Conduct regular site visits.
  • Ensure contract compliance and service excellence.
  • Respond to client concerns and implement solutions.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance service delivery.

Business Growth

  • Identify opportunities for new business.
  • Support contract renewals and proposal development.
  • Assist with client presentations and negotiations.
  • Promote Commissionaires’ security services throughout the region.

Leadership

  • Lead employee performance, engagement and retention initiatives, creating a culture where employees feel supported, recognized and accountable.
  • Conduct workplace investigations when required.
  • Support recruitment and selection activities.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, accountable and customer-focused culture that emphasizes employee engagement, recognition, development and continuous improvement.
  • Build strong relationships with supervisors through regular coaching, succession planning and proactive employee engagement.

Safety, Compliance & Quality

  • Ensure compliance with:
    • Client requirements
    • ISO Quality Standards
    • Employment Standards
    • PSIA
    • Health & Safety legislation
    • Collective Agreements
  • Conduct quality assurance inspections.
  • Support workplace health and safety initiatives.
  • Promote continuous operational excellence.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive operational leadership experience
  • Experience managing multiple client contracts
  • Strong knowledge of the security industry
  • Experience leading supervisors and large operational teams
  • Business development and client relationship experience
  • Experience working in unionized environments
  • Knowledge of ISO Quality Systems
  • Excellent communication skills in both English and French
  • Post-secondary education in Business, Operations, Law Enforcement or a related field
  • PSP or CPP designation is considered an asset
  • Ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance
