Summary: The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing all contractual, personnel, and resource management activities across client sites in Southern Saskatchewan. Working closely with Client Representatives and Supervisors, the Operations Manager ensures that all operational requirements meet or exceed contractual obligations through proactive service delivery and customer service excellence. The role demands strong leadership, attention to detail, and the ability to manage dynamic and high-pressure situations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Personnel & Site Management
- Client Relations & Contract Oversight
- Operational and Human Resources Support
- Compliance & Reporting
- Address concerns from clients and the public regarding Commissionaires’ performance or conduct
- Support the Business Development team by responding to inquiries about services, contract terms, and operational capabilities
- Conduct regular client and site visits, including after-hours inspections
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations or Chief Executive Officer, including special projects and operational initiatives.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Schedule, manage, supervise, and conduct annual performance evaluations on Commissionaires at non-supervised sites
- Implement and document formal corrective actions, counselling, and disciplinary measures, including recommendations for termination when necessary
- Ensure all supervisory actions are properly recorded in HR and Scheduling systems
- Administer all aspects of personnel management, including hiring, training, leave planning, and coverage coordination for internal staff
Job specifications:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email
- Ability to learn and adapt to new software
- Experience with InTime scheduling system is an asset
Education and experience:
- Minimum five years of experience in management or security operations
- Knowledge of relevant legislation including Labour Standards, Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code, and applicable provincial and federal laws
Formal training/certifications/licenses:
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
- Grade 12 or post-secondary education
Required competencies/knowledge/skills/abilities:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret operational documents
- Capable of writing clear reports and professional correspondence
- Comfortable speaking in front of groups
- Must be physically capable of responding to emergencies and performing site inspections
- Required to travel across Southern Saskatchewan
