Security Guard – 5 Wing Goose Bay – Contractor Escorts – Temp Full Time

THE ROLE: 

Commissionaires provides site access control and contractor escort services for the 2024 construction season at 5 Wing Goose Bay. We are hiring multiple persons to fill positions in the spring, summer and fall of 2024. Work may start as early as May and run until the end of October.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Controlling contractor access to worksites
• Escorting contractors along and across controlled areas of the airfield
• Patrolling worksites to ensure contractors are staying within the designated areas

WHO WE’RE SEEKING

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: 

• Be professional, reliable and recognize the proper chain of command
• Police Certificate of Conduct
• Be able to complete a Government of Canada Reliability Screening through Commissionaires 
• Hold a valid Class 5 Drivers License with clear driving abstract
• First Aid Emergency Level (1 Day)
• Pass exam for radio license (ROC-A) (provided)
• Pass Ramp Defensive Driving Course (provided)
• Must be at least 19 years old
• Use of own vehicle may be required

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

The selected candidate will be professional and detail driven individual with a strong work ethic and “can do” attitude. Both physical and mental fitness is required. This often involves working in all types of environment conditions at varying times throughout the day or night. 

Key qualifications and skills to be successful include but are not limited to:

• Mental alertness with ability to:
  • React calmly, quickly, and appropriately in any crisis 
  • Concentrate and remain alert for up to 12 hours 
  • Communicate observed characteristics/behaviours 
  • Demonstrate problem-solving and sound judgement
• Physical fitness with ability to:  
  • Navigate uneven terrain during foot patrols (in all weather conditions)
• Superior attention to detail with very good verbal communication skills
• Excellent customer service skills
• Computer literacy, and/or an aptitude to learn is an asset
