42 hours a week consist of 3 - 12 hour shifts & 1 - 6 hour shift, 6:00 pm to 6:00 am, a 2 week rotating schedule with every other weekend off.

THE ROLE: 

Commissionaires NL provides Security Services to the City of St. John’s.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Respond to alarms at City Buildings as required
  • Patrols of City Parks & buildings
  • Provide assistance to other mobile patrol staff
  • Securing locations as required
  • Comply with Mobile Post Orders
  • Provide assistance to Other City locations where Commissionaires are stationed while they are completing rounds or responding to incidents

WHO WE’RE SEEKING

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Be professional, reliable and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment
  • Be able to communicate effectively
  • Computer and Report writing knowledge skills required
  • Be able to obtain a Clear Police Conduct & Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Driver’s License 
  • Clear Drivers Abstract

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

The selected candidate will be professional and detail driven individual with a strong work ethic and “can do” attitude. Both physical and mental fitness is required. This often involves working in all types of environment conditions at varying times throughout the day or night. 

Key qualifications and skills to be successful include but are not limited to:

  • Mental alertness with ability to:
    • React calmly, quickly, and appropriately in any crisis 
    • Concentrate and remain alert for up to 12 hours 
    • Communicate observed characteristics/behaviours 
    • Demonstrate problem-solving and sound judgement
  • Superior attention to detail with very good verbal communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
