Security Guard – City of St. John’s Municipal Depot

THE ROLE: 

Commissionaires NL provides Security Services to the City of St. John’s. We are hiring full time for the Municipal Depot location.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Access control
• Property patrols
• Processing impound vehicles; including manually recording impounded vehicles when they arrive on impound sheet, transfer to logbook and then enter into computer on Microsoft Teams spread sheet. In addition, properly processing impounded vehicles when they are picked up.
• Complying with current Post Orders. Every year when new Post Orders are issued Depot Employees are required to read, understand and sign acknowledgement they have completed.
• Managing weight scales
• Camera monitoring
• Protecting people, property and information

WHO WE’RE SEEKING

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

• Be professional, reliable and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment
• Be able to communicate effectively
• Computer and Report writing knowledge skills required
• Be able to obtain a Clear Police Conduct & Vulnerable Sector Check
• Driver’s License 

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

The selected candidate will be professional and detail driven individual with a strong work ethic and “can do” attitude. Both physical and mental fitness is required. This often involves working in all types of environment conditions at varying times throughout the day or night. 

Key qualifications and skills to be successful include but are not limited to:

• Mental alertness with ability to:
  • React calmly, quickly, and appropriately in any crisis 
  • Concentrate and remain alert for up to 12 hours 
  • Communicate observed characteristics/behaviours 
  • Demonstrate problem-solving and sound judgement
• Superior attention to detail with very good verbal communication skills
• Excellent customer service skills
