THE ROLE:
Commissionaires’ NL provides security services at the Avalon Mall. Avalon Mall has been Newfoundland and Labrador’s premier shopping and entertainment destination for over 50 years. The position is for a full time position, 24 hours of which are as the night shift supervisor Saturday and Sunday and then 16 hours is as trainer/patrol position on Thursday and Friday.
The Supervisor/Trainer will support the Management Team in operational excellence at the Avalon Mall by making sure a high level of training is completed for each Commissionaire working at the Avalon Mall. This will be done by the delivery of site-specific orientations, review of post orders, mall opening and closing procedures, introduce new hires to mall layouts, Closed Circuit Television System, Investigations, fire alarm panels, Communication, Life safety equipment, emergency procedures and emergency exits.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervisor has the responsibility to train, motivate and discipline personnel under their supervision. In order to accomplish this task.
- Directs routine patrols of common areas, parking lots, and exteriors to identify hazards or safety violations.
- Oversees CCTV monitoring and responses.
- Responds to emergencies (medical, fire, security breaches and other emergency situations), conducts investigations, and interviews witnesses.
- Manages, locks, and unlocks entry/exit points, particularly during opening and closing procedures.
- Identify operational slip-ups or compliance gaps through daily observations and retrain or coach staff individually.
- Lead practical/realistic drills for fire evacuation, active shooter threat, medical emergencies and other emergency situations.
- Security Supervisors shall be accountable for the accuracy, legibility and thoroughness of all reports submitted by their subordinates.
- Identify, report, and mitigate potential safety hazards, such as fire hazards or broken security equipment.
- Responsible for the use and condition of security vehicle.
- To assist with the preparation of Incident Management Plans. E.g. Evacuation, Fire, Flood, Lock Down.

- Security Supervisor/Trainer will perform other related duties as necessary and as specified by the security manager.
WHO WE’RE SEEKING
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
- Requires at least 1 year of security experience, with previous supervisory experience preferred.
- Experience in coaching and supervising security personnel.
- Ability to communicate clearly with the public and staff.
- Must know how to write security reports.
- Ability to remain calm and resolve conflict under pressure.
- Capability to stand for long periods and patrol premises
- Strong communication, conflict resolution, leadership, and, emergency management skills.
- Must have a good working knowledge of the following:
- Proficiency in first aid, CPR, and, automated external defibrillators (AED) is required.

- Use of Force

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
The selected candidate will be professional and detail driven individual with a strong work ethic and “can do” attitude. Both physical and mental fitness is required. This often involves working in all types of environment conditions at varying times throughout the day or night.

- Concentrate and remain alert for up to 8 hours
