About the Current Position:

The Commissionaires South Saskatchewan Division is looking for a dedicated individual to work as a full-time Site Supervisor at Swift Current Hospital. You would be the site supervisor for all commissionaires assigned to this location. You would be responsible to manage and oversee the team through all Human Resources, coaching and scheduling needs. You may be required to work a variety of different shifts in order to maintain the quality of service expected by the Commissionaires and the 24 hour operation of the hospital.

As the Supervisor, you must display the ability to learn extensive details in scheduling, assignments, and special events procedures that this position will be ultimately responsible to ensure they are being followed and administered properly. It is imperative that you can showcase an understanding for safety-related procedures and are responsible to ensure a safe working environment for all staff and clients. You should have advanced interpersonal and diplomatic skills. In the event of an incident, you would be responsible to mitigate and/or provide direction and assistance to ensure the safety of personnel.

You would manage the responsibility of ensuring regular audits and compliance of all officers while ensuring that the level of customer service, and Client (Saskatchewan Health Authority) expectations are met or exceeded. You would work with the client representative to ensure the duties and expectation are being followed as per our contractual agreement.

You would have the ultimate responsibility to ensure corrective or disciplinary action is taken as required to maintain and improve the service and expectations required. The supervisor will also be responsible to ensure all equipment and vehicles are maintained as required and expected.

You would also perform a variety of the duties, including checking line phone messages, emails; and providing direction to all staff and the client as required.

Site Supervisors must have proven skills and abilities such as:

  • Experience in management and leadership.
  • Experience with onboarding/offboarding, training, discipline processes, administrative forms and processes and performance management.
  • Experience with the hiring process and managing staff scheduling and gap assessments.
  • Advanced interpersonal, mentorship and diplomacy skills.
  • Be even-tempered, professional, and able to diffuse tense situations.
  • Knowledge, understanding and intent of the Traffic Bylaw.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Enforcement procedures and customer service excellence principles.
  • Experience developing employee schedules.
  • Ability to manage procedures and enforce policies set out by the Corps of Commissionaires.
  • Knowledge of Incident, Accident, Fire Alarm procedures.
  • Provide direction/management, clarification, and intent of enforcement procedures for Mobile, Urban and Enforcement Scheduler.
  • Ability to trouble-shoot IT issues and experience with maintaining equipment inventories.
  • Ability to complete required paperwork at an expert level expected by the Corps.
  • Ability to be the Manager contact with any public or Client complaints and respond in a professional and timely fashion.
  • Ability to identify priorities, and gaps in enforcement coverage on the shift, and arrange coverage for those areas.
  • Ability to assist with interviews for new security guards.

Requirements:

  • Experience of 1-2 years in a management role or 5+ years supervising 5 or more personnel.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal and mentorship skills.
  • Be even-tempered, professional, and able to diffuse tense situations.
  • Ability to do walking patrols on site and be on your feet for extended periods of time.
  • Must have reliable transportation to get to shift but a vehicle and all appropriate communication assets will be assigned to the employee to use during their shift.
  • Must successfully complete a clean Criminal Record Check.
  • Must be able to work in Saskatchewan at least 40 hours a week.
  • Able to work well under pressure and provide excellent customer service.
  • 3-5 years experience dealing with the public.
  • Experience working closely with management, taking direction well and ready to assist with performance management of the team.
  • Attention to detail and professional approach in all areas of work and appearance.
  • Able to effectively communicate at an advanced level, both verbally and in writing, in English.
  • Dedicated and reliable and willing to work extra shifts if required.
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
  • Computer literacy, including effective working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and e-mail.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently with accuracy.
  • Must be available to work statutory holidays and weekends as required for operational excellence.
  • Knowledge, understanding of HR principles and have the ability to follow and enforce policy.
  • Standard First Aid/CPR
  • Ministry of Corrections and Policing forty (40) hour Private Investigators and Security Guard course.
  • Previous management training seen as an asset. Candidate must pass CSC1 and 2 course within the first year before probation can be considered complete.
  • Must have experience with and an understanding of Canadian Human Rights Legislation, and a wiliness to treat ALL people with respect, through understanding, regardless of their culture, gender, gender identity, race, sex and any other protected legislative designation.

Physical Demands:

  • Will be required to work outside in all weather conditions to perform patrols on days and evening shifts as needed on the site.
  • The employee may frequently be required to sit and use hands to manipulate equipment including a computer keyboard and mouse.
  • The employee is required to stand and walk for long periods of time and must have the ability to climb flights of stairs.
  • The employee must be able to manage difficult conversations with public and staff.
  • The employee must be able to be mobile and operate a motor vehicle.
