This includes checks of the National Repository of Criminal Records and other national and local police databases, without requiring fingerprints.

Name and date of birth based Criminal Record Checks are referred to by various names including; Level 1 Criminal Record Check, CPIC Check, CPIC1, CRC, Police Record Check, Police Information Check, Police Background Check, Police Clearance Certificate, and Records of Good Conduct.   Level 2 checks are commonly referred to as Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Checks, CRJMC, CPIC2, Enhanced Criminal Record Check and ECPIC.

Level 1 Criminal Record Check:

Our most popular check is intended for applicants who are involved as an employee, volunteer or any situation where a basic Criminal Record Check (CRC) is requested. This check is ideal for roles in retail, labour, trades, administration, manufacturing, construction, management and immigration. 

  • Purpose: A CRC will provide criminal convictions from CPIC and/or local police databases as well as findings of guilt under the Youth Criminal Justice Act within the applicable disclosure period.
  • Fee: $55

Level 2 Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check

Our Level 2 Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC) is tailored for roles requiring a more detailed review. This check is for positions involving sensitive responsibilities.

  • Purpose: A CRJMC will provide criminal convictions from CPIC and/or local databases, findings of guilt under the Youth Criminal Justice Act within the applicable disclosure period, as well as flag outstanding entries, such as charges and warrants, judicial orders, peace bonds, probation, prohibition orders and absolute and conditional discharges for 1 or 3 years respectively.
  • Fee: $60

Step 1: Submit Application

To verify your identity, you have two options:

  1. TransUnion – Electronic Identity Verification (eIV): Applicants must answer four multiple-choice questions related to their banking history or recent financial activities. Questions may include details such as address history, banking or credit card information, and potentially their social insurance number. Timely and accurate responses are required within a specified timeframe to verify their credit file.

Answering these questions will not affect your credit score.

  1. BluInk – eID-Me: Developed by BluInk, eID-Me is an advanced mobile app for identity verification. It utilizes selfie verification and ID scanning to securely authenticate your identity. With robust security measures, eID-Me enables you to securely store and access your credentials from anywhere. Easily scan your government-issued ID and complete verification within seconds, ensuring both convenience and heightened security for all your verification needs.

If you are unable to complete your online ID verifications, you will be guided to schedule a virtual ID verification appointment.

Step 2: Get Results Fast

Most Criminal Record Checks are generally completed within 15 minutes during business hours (8 am to 4 pm EST, Monday to Friday, excluding holidays and weekends). Occasionally, results may take up to 24 hours to be delivered.

Once processed, you will receive your results by email. Your report includes a document integrity verification feature that allows employers to confirm that your certificate has not been tampered with or altered.

If a name and date of birth check matches another individual after you complete your online application, fingerprints will be required.

No. The criminal record check ordered through this service is conducted using name and date of birth-based criminal record verification and does not include a Vulnerable Sector Search (VSS). RCMP policy states that a Vulnerable Sector Search must be conducted by the local police agency of jurisdiction where you reside.

If you do have a criminal record, you may choose to disclose it to receive a “Confirmed as Disclosed” result or apply for a criminal record check using digital fingerprints, which requires an in-person visit.
